Knowledge
1. Understanding the functions and historical development of information resources, being familiar with parameters of documents, the latest processing methods and data organisation models, as well as the development of document or information search tools and possibilities of retrieval;
2. Being able to explain the information practices of people and the opportunities to develop relevant information services;
3. Understanding and being able to explain informational and other processes that are the cornerstone for information and memory institutions (libraries, archives, information centres), as well as the work of information systems.

4. Selecting information resources, assessing their quality, processing them, and establishing various information systems (databases, catalogues, collections, etc.);
5. Developing and offering to user groups and individuals appropriate information services, as well as materials which support user activities, training users by choosing the most appropriate technological solutions;
6. Using theories from the sector and related sectors, as well as appropriate research methods to explain and find solutions to various problems in the industry;

7. Independently obtaining, analysing and processing information resources and establishing search tools, using the latest theoretical knowledge and methods from the sector for this purpose;
8. Carefully and responsibly organising human-centred information services, evaluating their effectiveness and their appropriateness for various groups of information users, as well as skilfully dealing with problems;
9. Taking part in the development of library science, information science, book science or archival science, always observing norms of professional ethics and taking a critical look at the importance of information resources and information in the lives of individuals and in society at large.
