Knowledge (knowledge and comprehension):
Upon completion of the study programme the graduate demonstrates basic and in-depth knowledge within the fields of science of music and instrumental music performance and has comprehensive knowledge in:
– theory and history of music, professional instrumental music performance development tendencies, planning and development strategies in the field of music, methods of scientific research.
Furthermore, competencies in history of instrumental music performance, interpretation and methods of instrumental music performance tuition correspond to the highest level of instrumental music performance training.
The graduates demonstrate understanding of the fundamental concepts and terminology used in the field of professional instrumental music pedagogy, of the application of the means of musical expression in dramatic development of musical pieces, of the diversity of instrumental music preparation methods.
Skills (Knowledge application skills, communication skills, general skills):
As a result of studies, the graduate is able to independently and responsibly undertake the duties of an instrumental music performer and professional education music teacher – to apply his/her knowledge in the field of the instrumental music performance based on the traditions as well as on the latest discoveries;
– to explain the development of music, analyze and evaluate music pieces of different epochs and styles, facilitate creative and positive atmosphere;
– to foresee and to achieve artistic performance, to freely sight-read previously unproduced pieces of music of different epochs and genres, to transpose them, to improvise;
– to independently produce and to perform in public pieces of instrumental music of various level of difficulty, to select artistic repertoire of instrumental genre and to compile concert programmes;
– to plan and to manage the work of oneself and of other musicians, to develop professional musical education courses for music schools and for secondary music schools, to select and to develop study materials and study content;
– to plan, organize and manage the teaching, to evaluate and to analyze the knowledge and skills acquired by students during the process of studies;
– to teach various levels of difficulty, the revelation of the dramatic content of a musical piece of the particular instrument in different epochs and styles, to explain the methodology of music piece preparation;
– to compare interpretations of pieces of music, to develop technical and artistic skills of instrumental music performance;
– to define aims and tasks of the study course, to analytically approach information, problem issues and solutions in the field of music, in science of music pedagogy and in the profession of instrumental music performer, to explain and to discuss them with specialists as well as with non-specialists.
Graduate is able to independently manage his/her own and his/her student’s learning processes:
– to organize further self-education and professional development, to demonstrate scientific approach in problem solving processes;
– to assume responsibilities and initiatives in individual work, team work or whilst leading the work of other people, to make decisions and to find creative solutions in changing or uncertain circumstances.
Graduates of the study programme fluently speak the official state language and at least two foreign languages, and have learned to comply with legal documents and regulations of work safety, fire safety and environmental safety.
Competencies (analysis, synthesis and evaluation):
The graduates are able to independently acquire, select, and analyze and apply information within the fields of music and pedagogy:
– to make decisions and to solve problems within the context of the music and music pedagogy in instrumental music performance profession, to demonstrate full comprehension of the professional ethics of the performer and teacher;
– to evaluate the role of professional instrumental music performer within social environments and to participate in the development of the fields of professional music and cultural education.
