Results
Learning outcomes:
– acquire principal knowledge within the programmes of general educational subjects, such as logics, introduction into law, general psychology, social pedagogy, sociology, politology, economic theory, philosophy, social politics, information sciences, accounting, etc.;
– acquire principal theoretical knowledge in the field of social work in its major directions, such as introduction into social work, genesis and analysis of social problems, methodology of social research, the ethics of social work, theories of social work, civil rights in Latvia and in the world, social secutity in Latvia, social psychology, professional activity and labour protection, crossprofessional team formation, social work procedure, social legislation, support group administration, case studies management, social work supervision;
– acquire principal knowledge in understanding of the biological basics of human behaviour through such subjects as developmental psychology, basic health principles, first emergency aid, etc.;
– acquire extensive knowledge of such social work subjects as support in crises situations,professional communication, the psychology of communication, problems of religion in social work, the psychology of mentally retarded children, the psychology of conflict, palliative care, social work with addicts, gerontology, soial work in penitentiary institutions, menagement of stress, etc.;
– acquire professional practical skills in the field of social work such as counselling, social problem research, social work intervention, individual and group work with clients through obligatory study practice in the scope of 26 credit points included into the teaching process of 1,2,3,4 study years;
– acquire scientific research implementation skills, research data processing skills, skills in statistical methodology of social work, qualitative and quantitative data processing skills, independent research implementation skills necessary for creating course projects and diploma papers.
