Knowledge (knowledge and comprehension):
Upon completion of the study programme the graduate demonstrates basic and in-depth knowledge characteristic to the fields of music sciences, the science of music pedagogy and the profession of music teacher and has comprehensive knowledge in:
– pedagogy, psychology, methods of scientific pedagogic research, theory and history of music, role of music within the general education system, development of the art of music, methods of student motivation, techniques of student evaluation, music teaching development strategy and planning methods.
Furthermore, competencies in music teaching and choir work methods correspond to the highest level of teachers’ professional training.
The graduates demonstrate understanding of the fundamental concepts and terminology used in the fields of music and pedagogy, of the application of the means of musical expression in dramatic development of musical pieces, of the interpretation methods and techniques and of the laws of music development.
Skills (knowledge application skills, communication skills, general skills):
As a result of studies, the graduate is able to independently and responsibly undertake the duties of a music teacher:
– to analyse, evaluate and develop study programmes in the field of music, to select, create and update study materials and study content, to plan, organize and lead lectures, teaching processes and study processes;
– to evaluate and analyse skills and knowledge acquired by students during the process of studies, to independently prepare;
– demonstrate and perform in public choir pieces of medium difficulty level of various epochs, styles and genres, to teach the means of musical expression employed by composers of various epochs and styles;
– to compare interpretations of musical pieces, to define aims and tasks of study courses, to analytically approach information, problem issues and solutions in the fields of musical and pedagogic sciences as well as in the profession of a teacher;
– to explain various concepts of these fields and to discuss these concepts convincingly with professionals and non-professionals.
Graduate is able to independently manage his/her own and his/her student’s learning processes, to organize further self-education and professional development, to demonstrate scientific approach in problem solving processes;
– to assume responsibilities and initiatives in individual work, team work or whilst leading the work of other people;
– to make decisions and to find creative solutions in changing or uncertain circumstances.
Graduates of the study programme fluently speak the official state language and at least two foreign languages, and have learned to comply with legal documents and regulations of work safety, fire safety and environmental safety.
Competencies (analysis, synthesis, evaluation):
The graduates are able to independently acquire, select, analyse and apply information within the fields of music and pedagogy:
– to make decisions and to solve problems within the contexts of music sciences and music pedagogy sciences as well as within the context of the profession of music teacher, to fully comprehend the professional ethics of a teacher;
– to evaluate the role of general education music teacher within social environments and to participate in the development of general education music tuition.
