Results
Knowledge (knowledge and comprehension):
Upon the completion of the study programme the graduate demonstrates basic and in-depth knowledge characteristic to the fields of music sciences and vocal performance and has comprehensive knowledge in:
– theory and history of music, professional vocal performance development tendencies, planning and development strategies in the field of music, methods of scientific research.
Furthermore, competencies in vocal performance history, vocal music interpretation and methods of vocal performance tuition (academic, early and jazz music) correspond to the highest level of vocal performance training.
The graduates demonstrate understanding of the fundamental concepts and terminology used in the field of professional vocal pedagogy, of the application of the means of musical expression and vocal techniques in dramatic development of musical pieces, of the diversity of vocal music preparation methods.
Skills (knowledge application skills, communication skills, general skills):
As a result of studies:
– the graduate is able to independently and responsibly undertake the duties of a vocal performer and professional education music teacher;
– to apply his/her knowledge in the field of the vocal performance based on the main traditions and the latest discoveries in the field of vocal art;
– to explain the structure of the vocal apparatus, the mechanics of sound production, the principles of vocal technique development, to apply his/her vocal teaching knowledge through the processes of development of vocal technique and artistic skills;
– to analyse and evaluate vocal repertoire of various epochs and styles, to develop his/her own vocal skills and the vocal skills of his/her students, to sing solo, in ensembles, choirs, with choirs accompanied by piano, other instruments or orchestra;
– to adapt appropriate vocal, acting, stage movement and make-up techniques to the requirements of the artistic role, to achieve the artistic goals through the vocal performance;
– to independently or under the guidance of conductors, directors or choreographers master the vocal, vocal-instrumental or vocal-symphonic pieces of various levels of difficulty, to select an artistic repertoire and to prepare concert programmes appropriate for various venues;
– to organize and plan the creative work of his/her own and of other musicians, to creative positive and creative working environment;
– to develop professional musical education study courses for primary and secondary music schools;
– to select and develop study materials and study content, to plan, organize and manage vocal subjects teaching, to evaluate and analyse skills and knowledge acquired by students during the process of studies;
– to teach the use of the means of musical expression in revelation of the dramatic content of a musical piece, to teach the methodology of musical piece preparation, to compare interpretations of musical pieces;
– to define aims and tasks of study courses, to analytically approach information, problem issues and solutions in the fields of vocal music and music pedagogy as well as in the profession of vocal performer;
– to explain various concepts of these fields and to discuss these concepts convincingly with professionals and non-professionals.
Graduate is able to independently manage his/her own and his/her student’s learning processes, to organize further self-education and professional development, to demonstrate scientific approach in problem solving processes;
– to assume responsibilities and initiatives in individual work, team work or whilst leading the work of other people, to make decisions and to find creative solutions in changing or uncertain circumstances.
Graduates of the study programme fluently speak the official state language and at least two foreign languages, and have learned to comply with legal documents and regulations of work safety, fire safety and environmental safety.
Competencies (analysis, synthesis and evaluation):
The graduates are able to independently acquire, select, analyse and apply information within the fields of music and pedagogy:
– to make decisions and to solve problems within the context of the vocal performance profession, to fully comprehend the professional ethics of vocal performer and teacher;
– to evaluate the role of professional vocal performer within social environments and to participate in the development of the fields of professional music and music education.
