Results
After mastering the study programme, the new specialists:
1. By understanding the causes of social problems and their impact on the quality of life of members of society in a diverse environment, are able to diagnose the problem, make independent decisions, plan and model positive results-orientated professional activities and set priorities, develop proposals and implement interventions and other measures to solve these problems at the micro, meso and macro levels.
2. Are able to organise the involvement of social resource systems in solving social problems of individuals, social groups and communities and ensure the connection of social work process with social values and ethical norms of the profession, while integrating the theoretical and methodological approaches of different sciences into social work practice for work with individuals, groups, communities and/or society.
3. Know the Latvian and international legislation in matters of social security and human rights and are able to apply it in professional activities.
4. Able to make decisions independently, form an inter-professional team, plan and model a positive result-orientated professional activity in accordance with the priorities and basic principles of group work organisation.
5. Are self-motivated and interested in improving their professional competence in further education and career development, are able to critically evaluate their professional activities in solving problems and, if necessary, make changes quickly.
6. Are able to apply the skills of management, planning and administration of social work acquired during the study process, as well as to use information and communication technologies, scientific sources in the field of social welfare for research of the processes taking place in the society, collection of data, analysis and purposeful communication;
7. Able to assess the effectiveness of social policy, the quality of social services based on the needs of society.
1.
